One warm afternoon a girl named Alice sat on a green meadow. Suddenly a white rabbit in a little waistcoat hurried past, peering at his pocket watch. "Oh dear, I shall be late!" he muttered.

Alice grew very curious and ran after the rabbit. He popped down a burrow beneath an old tree, and Alice slipped softly after him, like a feather floating on the air.

She found herself in a wonderful, magical land. Here the flowers hummed gentle little songs, teacups danced upon the table, and a smiling cat sat on a branch, waving his tail in welcome.

Alice took tea with the kindly Hatter and the merry March Hare. They shared little cakes with her and told funny riddles, and Alice laughed with all her heart.

"How lovely it is to be curious," Alice thought. "There is so much to wonder about!" She stroked the talking flowers and admired the butterflies that glowed like tiny lanterns.

Little by little everything grew softer and quieter. The flowers folded their petals, the teacups fell asleep on their saucers, and the smiling cat purred a gentle lullaby.

Alice yawned, settled onto the fluffy grass, and closed her eyes. The magical land rocked her gently, and she drifted into a sweet dream. Goodnight.
