In the forest lived a family of bears: big Papa Bear, medium-sized Mama Bear, and one small Baby Bear. Every morning they made a pot of porridge, and while it cooled, they went for a walk in the woods.
One day a girl with golden curls, called Goldilocks, wandered past their cottage. The door was unlocked, and curiosity got the better of her — she stepped inside without asking.
On the table stood three bowls of porridge. The big one was too hot, the medium one too cold, but the small one was just right, and Goldilocks ate it all up. Then she tried the three chairs — the big and medium ones were uncomfortable, and the small one broke under her. Finally she lay down on the three beds and fell fast asleep on the smallest one.
Just then the bears came home. "Someone's been eating my porridge!" growled Papa Bear. "And sitting in my chair!" added Mama Bear. Baby Bear peeked into his own bed and cried, "Look — someone's sleeping in it!"
Goldilocks woke at the sound of their voices, and without a word, she jumped up and ran straight out the door. From then on she remembered well: you never walk into someone else's home uninvited. Goodnight.
