Little Red Riding Hood was a sweet girl who always wore a bright red hood her grandmother had made. One morning her mother said, "Grandma is feeling poorly. Take her this basket of bread and berries, and remember, stay on the path and do not stop along the way."
"I will, Mama," said Red Riding Hood, and off she skipped into the woods.
On the path she met a sly wolf. "Where are you going, little one?" he asked sweetly. Red Riding Hood remembered her mother's words and did not stop to chat. "To Grandma's house," she said politely, and hurried on along the path, just as she had promised.
The wolf tried a shortcut to reach the house first, but a kind woodcutter was chopping logs nearby. When he saw the sneaky wolf creeping toward the cottage, he called out in a big booming voice, "Off you go, wolf! Leave these good folk alone!"
The startled wolf yelped and ran far, far away into the forest, and never bothered anyone again.
Red Riding Hood reached Grandma's cottage safe and sound. Grandma was so happy to see her, and they shared the bread and sweet berries together.
Snuggled under a warm blanket beside her grandma, Little Red Riding Hood yawned a cozy yawn and fell fast asleep.
