Snow White

Once there was a kind girl with hair as black as night, and her name was Snow White. She loved to sing to the birds and share berries with the forest animals.

Her stepmother the queen was jealous of how kind she was, and frowned at her mirror. So Snow White went to stay in the woods, where she found a little house with seven tiny beds.

Seven cheerful dwarfs lived there, digging shiny pebbles from the hills. They were delighted to have a guest. Snow White baked them warm bread, and they told her stories by the fire.

One day the girl grew so tired that she fell fast asleep, deep as the earth under winter snow. The dwarfs set lanterns around her and waited patiently.

A kind prince rode by. Softly he said, "What a gentle face." Snow White heard the friendly voice, opened her eyes, and smiled.

The dwarfs jumped for joy. Together they all drank tea with honey, and then Snow White pulled up her blanket and drifted off to sleep. Goodnight.
